Boogie Mites Training Days: Using music to support Speech and Language, Croydon 19 January 2011
Training for practitioners in Early Years Settings, to lead 6 week course covering Boogie Mites Music Programme to support Letters and Sounds Phase 1 for parents and children ages 2-5.

10am – Introductions
- Using music to support early years development cross curriculum.
- Using music to support the 7 aspects of Letters and Sounds phase 1.
- Run through 21 songs on the Boogie Mites Music Programme to support letters and Sounds phase 1, how to lead them, how they support EYFS and link with L&S Phase 1 activities.
12.30pm-Break for lunch (please bring packed lunch)
1pm – Look at format of the 6 week course for parents
- Give out course notes folder and run through each week - format of music and discussion sections and handouts.
- Tips for parents to keep up practice at home
- Discuss desired outcomes and evaluation of the course
- Give out CD packs and license agreements for signature
- Feedback
Training for Surrey Children’s Centre practitioners to lead 6 week course covering Boogie Mites Music Programme to support Letters and Sounds Phase 1 for parents and children ages 2-5.
Format and costing of the training for practitioners:
- 2.5 hour workshop covering the theory behind the benefits of music to support learning for the relevant stage of development -linking to EYFS goals. Run through each song in the programme, how to lead it and how it supports learning. Cost £150 per CC attending.
- 2 hour workshop covering the format and structure of each 45 minute workshop of the 6 week course. Including handouts and course notes. Cost £100 per CC attending.
On 7th January 1 and 2 are to be delivered as full training day 10.00am-3pm. Cost £225 per setting for full day training.
- Optional (recommended) shadowing a 6 week course led by a BM tutor. Cost £450.
The cost of the teacher CD pack and course notes is £50 per practitoner, the cost of year 1 license is £100. Total cost £150 per centre for year 1. The license fee is renewable annually for £100 with offer of update training and support ongoing. The centre will receive a certificate as licensee to offer the Boogie Mites course covered.
The cost of individual CD packs for parents - buying direct from BMs is £15 (home use only). The cost to CCs is £10 for more than 10 packs ordered, £9 for more than 50 packs ordered or £8 for more than 100 packs ordered. It is a valuable part of the course for parents that they take home the pack week 1 and can practice the songs at home as the course progresses. Some centres ask parents to purchase these themselves.
